Hej,
My name is Greg and i moved from the UK 2 years ago with my Swedish wife. I have just purchased a 2011 STI sedan and must say it is a massive upgrade from my previous Golf ED35.
I am looking to join the club life again which I miss from England. So would be great to meet you guys when you have a meeting next time if you don’t mind putting up with english d—0.o—b!Cheers
Greg

About the wheels, is it the 7 spoke prodrive or some other version?

9 april, 2015 kl. 10:55 #276070GregDeltagareAm i correct in thinking you cannot add more than 10% of the cars original power ?
Also heard that non standard exhausts are not received with open arms? But I have seen a few modified cars here so not sure now !

If you are to follow the rules we have “helfordonsgodkännande” (type approval?) which basically means we are only allowed to use OEM-parts (I beleive wheels are exempt from these rules)
However the enforcement of these rules is pretty poor.
It’s fairly common to have tuned cars to pass the swedish equivalence of the MOT-testA changed exhaust is rarely any problem. For example I’ve passed inspections with a “stage 1″ tune on several occasions (3” turbo back exhaust and roughly 25% increased power).
But since the rules are what they are, you can be stopped by “Farbror blå” (the police) who is in a bad mood that tells you to change it back to stock and get it approved again, meaning a fine, work to restore and a “MOT”. However it is rare.
Some people even roll through the test with seriously modified cars, however the closer to stock you are (at least by the looks) the smaller the chance is to have any trouble 🙂
9 april, 2015 kl. 12:23 #276072GregDeltagareGreat thanks for that info, I guess your insurance will be invalid if your involved in an accident with modifications though ?
In the Uk i had a couple of highly modified cars with substantially higher than oem power, the rules were that as long as they were safe (MOT) and all declared to the insurance company then no problems!
My old starlet
My old fiesta (Not road legal)
9 april, 2015 kl. 12:35 #276055IggeDeltagareI suppose there could be some hassle with that, not sure though 🙂
Edit: Called my insurance company today and changed exhaust and tuned ECU wasn’t a problem
Nice to hear 😛9 april, 2015 kl. 15:15 #276073GregDeltagareI suppose there could be some hassle with that, not sure though 🙂
