There is an inherent problem with the design of the twin dump downpipes if you’re looking to make a screamer pipe.

The wastegate flapper (the penny on the turbo wastegate axle) will open up towards the ”dump” pipe at an angle, and seeing as you’d need to modify the flange to make the wastegate sealed off from the turbine outlet – to let only the wastegate gasses go to free air (otherwise you’d let exhaust gasses through as well, not only the wastegate for the ”screamer” pipe effect you’re looking for).

This will/can make controlling boost a nasty experience – I tried with a massive turbo that had an enlarged wastegate flapper that opened up very close to the ”dump” pipe on the downpipe, which in turn effectively sealed the wastegate off to use just the said ”dump” pipe (effectively what you’d need to do), and ended up with uncontrollable boost in the higher rpm regions.

I would *not* do it the way you’re thinking about doing it in.

Weld up the wastegate flapper on the turbo, and fit an external wastegate on the upppipe instead, that’s the way to do it.

            🙂

Scoobymania has the nicest one out there (I used to have one on my own car) – it’s 3″ all the way though, so there might be a problem attaching a standard 2.25″ system to the flange on the downpipe.

But let mike@scoobymania.co.uk know Jerry sent you. 😉

Funkar detta me Imprezans (GT) system?
DVS mäter lambdan på fullast på Impreza gt ?
