DeltagareHello everyone. I’m new here, but I’ve been lurking for a little while.
A little about me:
I visited Sweden for the first time in July 2007 and fell in love with it here so I applied for, and got, a permanent residence visa and moved here in April 2008. I’m still learning Swedish and will hopefully be attending classes in January. I have owned 3 Impreza’s in the USA. A 2000 RS (non-turbo USA model), 2002 WRX and a 2003 WRX. I’ve sold those and now own a 2000 GT that I purchased here.I’m looking to get a new exhaust and am wondering what shops in the Göteborg or Trollhättan area cater to Subaru’s and would have parts in stock.
Lastly, I’ve seen a red GC8 in Alingsås that has a STi wing, clear taillights and I think morrette style headlights, is that anyone here?
Here are a couple pics of my Impreza that the previous owner took. I haven’t had the chance to take some quality pictures of my own yet. Those are the ”summer” wheels which I’m not that crazy about. She currently has the winter ones on, which are the stock silver 6 spokes.

DeltagareThanks. I’ve been looking there actually. I’m looking for a very quiet exhaust.
I’ve been surfing youtube all evening to see if I can find decent clips of the various exhausts that I might want. So far the Invidia G200 doesn’t seem too loud and I can get that at streetpower.
Are there any meets coming up where I could hear other member’s cars to get a better feel for what different ones sound like in person?
I have to do the whole car inspection thing for the first time ever this month and I have no idea what to expect. What are the laws regarding non-stock exhausts here?
Also, someone ran into my drivers side mirror and the glass cracked down the middle vertically. Will that pass an inspection?
Thanks,

Deltagaremy car past the inspection (calld MOT in england) whith 3″ piping from turbo back and only one full flow jap backbox:) regarding the sidemirror, if that is the only problem, you wont be forced back, just says on the paper that its your own responcibility to fix it. 🙂 you can have 4 minor fault like that before you have to go back for a re-check:-) and please bare my bad english..haha

DeltagareTwo examples of silent exhausts.
My car has got a Invidia dowmpipe(needs some customizing) + greddy SP2.
A friend of my has got the MRT exhaust which is even more silent.we both use are cars on daily basis and go on longer trips(200-400km).
Neiter one is cheap thought. I got my from US(ca 12000 SEK) and the MRT is even more expensive maybe due to the australian dollar.
Both of the above systems have a ”racecat”, which you need to get thru ”Bilprovningen”.
hope you understand my beautiful english.
welcome to sweden 🙂

DeltagareWelcome to Sweden and congratulations to a great car!
I’m not totally sure but that looks a lot like my previous Impreza, and in case I’m right I was the first owner (I think the guy that bought it from me bought rims like that for it.).

I know that the car was originally imported to Stockholm from Copenhagen because the original owner couldn’t find an Impreza locally. The first name of the guy I bought it from was Magnus (the 2nd owner) and he lived around Ystad.
If you do fail the car inspection, do you have to pay again when you go back to have it re-checked?

DeltagareAnd it doesn’t have air-condition right?
Then it’s my previous one. I sold it to Magnus a couple of years ago.I imported it from Copenhagen to Malmoe, not Stockholm.

DeltagareNo, no air conditioning. I put Stockholm because I think that’s where the importer was based, or that’s what it says on one of the papers he gave me.

Not really, I’ve seen much worse cost wise, but I’ve also lived in places where you got a paper stating that everything passed except xyz and then when you return they would check just xyz so it was free.
@bageera – Did you have the STi short shift kit installed in the car?

No, when I sold it it was bone stock except for the splashers. the fact that it was totally stock and in good condition was actually one of my selling points.
What more has been done to it? Rims, exhaust and short shift kit. Anything else?

Actually I think the only thing was the rims. I need to do something with the exhaust before having it inspected because there is a small leak. That’s why I was looking for an aftermarket exhaust, they’re usually cheaper than a factory one.
I was trying to install a short shift lever today and it didn’t fit but it should have unless the STi kit was already in it, that’s why I was asking.
As far as what else is being done to the car…I’ve purchased the power folding mirrors that can be found on the Japanese spec Impreza’s and am installing those along with mirror heating elements. Heated seats will likely come next.
