I have a few questions about inspection.

Il be having my car inspection around end of September early October. My car currently has catless downpipe and 3 inch midpipe welded to a sti muffler.

My question is for the inspection can I buy a aftermarket Downpipe Cat? For example invidia 3in cat downpipe with a 3 inch midpipe and 3 inch exhaust? or does it have to be OEM? Can it be a race catytlic converter? or does it have to meet certain emission specs?

Also Does the car just have to have a cat in it? Some WRX pre 05 I believe have a cat in the Uppipe. Would that count? If it does would having my current exhaust effect the inspection even if I have a cat on the uppipe?

Im looking to buy and I can purchase at the end of the month.
If anybody has to rent that would be great also.

Im also looking to rent Headlights for bugeye.

If I placed this in the wrong section im sorry.

Also im located in Goteborg Torslanda, Ive seen a WRB STI in the area looks awesome! and a pre my00 wrx in the area as well.

Any cat ”100 cell/300 cell” will do as long as you meet the proper emission value.
100 cell cat can be tricky, so stick with a 300 cell and wrap it with heat wrap tape.

I only use one cat for the inspection, and i’ve never had any problems.

So Another question then… is it just to meet emission value? Does that mean I can run catless and just use E85 to pass inspection 😛 If so I dont mind forking over 350$ on injectors and another 300$ on a Etune for e85 😛

In the US on states that have emission testing, people just swap to E85 catless and pass with flying numbers.

From 1989 and cars that are newer must have cat mounted to pass inspection and its also to pass emissions value. And if its your first inspection here in sweden i would recommend to use OEM exhaust all the way so the inspection pass smoothley for you 🙂

Ive been trying to locate a stock exhaust but im having no luck at all.. Ive check the junkyards and all they have is aftermarket stuff.

Im not having much luck finding anyone 🙁 well I have alittle less then a month to find.. hopefully I can find something by then

100 cells is no problem at all on a healthy engine, just make sure the car is really warm before doing the exhaust test, sometimes they need to take an extra turn around the building to get the cat to operating temp.

I almost passed with 30% E85 and no cat. I think more E85 and better injectors would have resulted in a pass. They did not look for a cat.
Now I got a 100cell and they are very helpfull getting it hot enough to pass.

All inspection guys or girls may not be that ”helpfull”. If they are very thorough and they se that your car isnt 100% original becuse of the ”helbilsgodkännande” you can get a re-inspection and if you are real unlucky, you can get a ”registreringsbesiktning” meaning that you have to restore the car to 100% original and have a certificate from subaru that it states its conditions that is 100% original and then a s k ”registrerings besiktning” = expensive. Not saying that all Inspections employee are that but if you are unlucky.

Holy shit… that would suck! 🙁 If my car still has the uppipe cat Il just run 100% E85 with bigger injectors. I dont know if it has a cat or not since well its been a long time since i messed with my engine.

If you just have a cat on the car i think you would be fine and also if its not so ”noisy”
