hey everybody I have a few questions

well I want to retrofit my headlights just because the low beam pattern on it sucks! well actually its not too shabby but its not too bright and well Sweden gets pretty dark..

First Question is there any place in Sweden you guys ship headlights to get retrofitted.

Second Question, have any of you used volvo projector headlights to retrofit yours, I ask this because i see plenty of volvos with projecters and I assume it would be cheap to get them.

I tried my best to find what thread to post this in but well this is a general question and not really a make or model question..

      Thanks for the answers!

What car are we talking about, and what do you mean with retrofit? Never come across that word before.

This is how we do it in Sweden btw 🙂

          oh god thats overkill!

umm retro fit is when you put projectors into non hid..

for example here is a guide on Nasioc

The term is known in the USA by all types of owners, subaru, mits, ford, honda, etc

I would of thought this would be a term here since it would make LHD Vehicle headlights face the correct direction for Sweden standerds.Cheap, effective, light pattern is great, and looks sweet.

Also it doesnt have to be any specific car basicly any headlight can be retro fitted.
In my case I would want to retro fit mine if my headlights dont pass Sweden inspection

            Regarding the Volvos.
I think you mistake it with the Xenon that comes with all the new Volvos, or perhaps HID and Xenon are the same shit? 😉 It’s nice when you’r driving the car, but really annoying when you meet the darn thing on the road a dark night.

            What car are you driving?

Il be driving my 02 wrx 😉 needs alot of tough love on the body but i replaced all the major stuff already. if someone is local to me or near Goteborg, and wants to try and retro fit there headlights, let me know I will give it a shot with you. Retro fitting them correctly wont blind other drivers and give great visibility to you.

i have never heard off this before and if you change anything in the headlights they are not legal anymore.

Ah i think i understand, you had HID (xenons) in the states and now for the inspection here in sweden you want to change back to the original halogen bulbs?

                    This will answer some questions..
When done properly it exceeds by far USA DOT standerds.
If done correctly they will look completely unmolested aftermarket headlights and only a hardcore car ethusiast/modder will notice it.

Here is another guide for stock wrx headlights bugeye.

I hope you guys get what im trying to say now, this is a cheaper method for some of us that headlights point in the wrong direction.

Also this is not to be confused with just HID kits, HID kits installed with cars that do not have it originally or dont have the proper fix like the retrofitting im showing can blind other drivers, Retrofitting will not blind other drivers, if you look at the beam pattern on the retrofit guides you will see how clean and straight the line is on lowbeams

Making changes to the lights will make them illegal here in sweden if they notice it during the inspection. Firstly the housing needs to be certified for hid lights you then need automatic leveling and high pressure washing.

ah.. nevermind 🙂 I guess its a USA thing only then..
Just cause it makes them illegal doesnt mean nobody will do it,
Like i stated if done correctly, it would have to be a inspection person that knows cars inside and out. Even then it would be hard to notice.

Its just like modding our Subaru’s we do illegal things to them anyways!

If you read the the threads I posted you will see that retrofitting has the correct *housing* and you can buy automatic leveling switches for it as well. As for High pressure washing I have no clue what you are talking about, if you are talking about water getting in thats why you use good sealent.

Not trying to argue with anyone here of coarse, but I think everybody is not getting the complete picture.

Also another note to add, that i did state before, there is HID kits that people put on there car’s which will blind people, but a proper kit and proper installation will will not blind other drivers and make overall night driving a better experience.

the high pressure washing is for the cleaning of the headlights 😉

No problems there, using the correct sealent and plenty of it will stop all water.

Im really curious as to why this isnt a thing here.
Correctly done it looks completely stock even if you look under the hood.

you don´t seem to understand, it is not that it will leek wather in to the headlights, it is to keep them clean from dirt.

Mostly to remove ice build up in the winter since HID doesn’t generate as much heat as halogen bulbs

High pressure washing nozzles (on the car that is) I suppose it can be translated into

Thats weird since ive never seen any subaru with high pressure headlight washer 😉 Ive seen saab’s. Audi’s, and Vk, also Volvo’s
